Muggans Shepherd's Hut
"Off-grid. Wood-fired hot tub. A permaculture smallholding on the side of Tap o' Noth hill."
Muggans is named after the mugwort that grows by the steps. The shepherd's hut sits below a pond, tucked behind a hedgerow on the edge of a working permaculture smallholding at the foot of Tap o' Noth hill in Rhynie, Aberdeenshire. Entirely off-grid.
Hosts James Reid and Rosa Bevan run an 8-acre certified permaculture farm โ ecologically grown fruit and vegetables, chickens, geese, dairy goats, and a market garden. The hot tub is wood-fired. The pizza oven is outside. The wood burning stove keeps the hut warm. TV, Netflix and WiFi are also available.
This is for people who know what permaculture means, or want to find out. Guests can engage with the smallholding as deeply or lightly as they choose. One of a kind.
